Hosting Thanksgiving in a Small Space? Read this first

Image
Hosting Thanksgiving sounds wonderful until you start wondering where everyone is going to sit, how you're going to fit all the food on the table, and where on earth you're supposed to put everything while you're cooking. But here's the thing: you don't need a huge house or a formal dining room to host a great Thanksgiving. With a little planning and a few adjustments, you can make a smaller space work without feeling like you're constantly stepping over someone. Here are nine ways to make hosting Thanksgiving in a small home a little easier.

Homemade Creamy Roasted Salsa with Avocado Oil

Image
If you saw my ground beef and lentil tacos , this is the salsa I served with them! I've made homemade salsa for years, but one of my favorite ways to prepare it is by blending in a little avocado oil. It changes the texture completely, giving the salsa a smooth, creamy consistency without adding any dairy. I like my salsa with plenty of garlic, fresh cilantro, lime, and a good amount of heat. Roasting the tomatoes first gives it a deeper flavor, while using both roasted and fresh jalapeños adds a nice balance. This is the kind of salsa I make to keep in the fridge throughout the week. It's great with tacos, burritos, grilled meats, or just a bowl of tortilla chips.

Easy Ground Beef Tacos with a Secret Ingredient (Kid Approved!)

Image
Taco night is always a hit in our house, but this time I decided to sneak a little extra nutrition into our usual ground beef tacos. And when I say nobody noticed, I mean nobody noticed. The secret? A can of lentils. I know, I know. Lentils in tacos might sound a little strange, but hear me out. I’ve been trying to incorporate more fiber into our meals, especially for my youngest. I figured mixing some lentils into our taco meat would be an easy way to do it without completely changing a dinner I already know my family loves. Well, my youngest ate two tacos and then asked for THREE more. 😂 I’d say that experiment was a success.

Mediterranean Grilled Chicken Bowls with Crispy Chickpeas & Spicy Cilantro Yogurt Sauce

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a dinner that has a little bit of everything. Something fresh, something savory, a little crunch, and definitely a good sauce. These Mediterranean grilled chicken bowls check every single box. We’ve got juicy grilled chicken marinated in Greek yogurt, lemon, and warm spices, served over flavorful garlic rice with crispy curry-spiced chickpeas, a fresh cucumber and tomato salad, crumbled feta, and a spicy cilantro yogurt sauce that might just be my favorite part. And when I say spicy, I mean it. We’re using fresh Thai bird’s eye chilies in this one! It’s colorful, packed with flavor, and honestly one of those dinners where every bite is a little different. The best part? Everything comes together in one bowl, and you can easily customize it based on what you have in the fridge.

Fall-Apart Tender Dutch Oven Short Ribs with Red Wine Gravy & Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes

There’s just something about a slow-braised dinner that makes the whole house feel cozy. You know those  meals where you start cooking in the afternoon, the kitchen smells incredible for hours, and by dinnertime everyone is asking when it’s going to be ready? This is one of those dinners. These boneless beef short ribs are braised in red wine, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, fresh garlic, and plenty of herbs until they’re fall-apart tender. They’re served over creamy garlic mashed potatoes made with heavy cream and sour cream, with brown sugar glazed carrots on the side. It’s rich, comforting, and exactly the kind of homemade meal I love putting on the dinner table. And the best part? While it looks like something you’d order at a restaurant, most of the cooking time is hands-off.

10 Budget-Friendly Ways to Make a Boring Laundry Room Look Beautiful

Image
Your laundry room doesn’t need a complete renovation to feel like a space you actually enjoy. Let’s be real: laundry rooms don’t usually get much attention when it comes to decorating. We spend time picking out the perfect living room rug, decorating our kitchens, and making our bedrooms cozy. Meanwhile, the laundry room gets a washer, a dryer, some detergent, and maybe a storage rack if we’re lucky. And honestly? Sometimes that’s all the room needs to function. But functional doesn’t have to mean boring . My own laundry room is small, with the washer and dryer on opposite walls because there isn’t enough room for them to sit side by side. It connects our kitchen and garage, so keeping the walkway clear is important. We already have a storage rack and wall hooks for our laundry baskets, which make the space practical. What it could use, though, is a little more personality. If your laundry room works perfectly fine but feels a little forgotten, these ten budget-friendly ideas ca...
